Hot Springs Adventures

Nature’s Spa, Hidden in the Pines - Soak where the earth still breathes.

There’s something magical about soaking in a natural hot spring—steam rising through crisp mountain air, the sound of the river nearby, and the sense that you’ve stepped into a secret older than time. Here along the Payette River, hot springs aren’t just attractions—they’re part of the landscape, carved by nature and cherished for generations.

Hot springs form when groundwater travels deep into the Earth, gets heated by geothermal energy, and rises back to the surface. The Payette River corridor sits atop a geologic fault line, where pressure and heat meet water in just the right way. The result? Dozens of natural hot springs, from well-known pools to tucked-away treasures still whispered about by locals.

Some are right off the road. Others require a hike, a ride, or a bit of luck and adventure to find. All of them offer something different—solitude, serenity, and a chance to reconnect.

Explore with Ease:

Staying at SouthFork means you’re within reach of some of Idaho’s most iconic hot springs, including Kirkham, Pineflats, Bonneville, and a few we won’t name publicly—because discovering them is half the fun.

  • Lodge Guests can arrange transportation to several of the most popular springs—just ask at the front desk.

  • Want to explore off the beaten path? Rent a side-by-side or e-mountain bike through our Adventure Services, and set out to find your own favorite.

  • Year-round access means whether you’re soaking under summer stars or surrounded by snow, the water remains warm, soothing, and unforgettable.

A Few Hot Tips

  • Please don’t use your room towels. Stop by The Pit to check out hot springs towels for your adventure.

  • Respect the land and others. Many springs are on public land, but some may border private property—know before you go.

  • Pack out what you pack in. These pools have been here for millions of years—let’s keep them pristine for millions more.

  • Mind the seasons. Snowy trails and icy roads can make some springs harder to reach in winter. We’re happy to help plan your route.

From steaming pools to snowy banks—hot springs never go out of season.
