The SouthFork Volunteer Program

SouthFork Lodge has always been more than a place to stay—it’s a growing community rooted in the Boise National Forest, the Payette River, and the people who care deeply about this part of Idaho. From events like Lowman Days and community runs to trail cleanups, river projects, farm support, and seasonal property preparation during fire season, there is always meaningful work to be done and opportunities to lend a hand.

As the gardens grow, the animals multiply, and more people gather around the lodge each season, so does the need for community involvement. Some volunteers may join for a single event or weekend, while others simply want to support the larger Lowman ecosystem and the mountain community that surrounds it.

Whether helping with hospitality, stacking firewood, supporting homeowners with fire mitigation efforts, assisting with trail work, or contributing behind the scenes during events, every role plays a part in protecting and strengthening this place we all enjoy.

Staff Housing & Schedule at SouthFork

We know that living and working in the heart of the Boise National Forest comes with unique challenges—and unmatched rewards. With a local population under 100, we’ve built thoughtful staff accommodations to support those who make the SouthFork experience possible.

We offer a dedicated 6-room bunkhouse, each with private bedrooms, and two additional private suites for staff. Employees check in and out like guests, turning over their space for the next team member—a respectful system that keeps housing fair, clean, and ready for all.

SouthFork operates on a flexible 3.5-on, 3.5-off schedule, designed for full-time, 40-hour weeks. That means you’ll work hard, support a boutique group of guests, and then have half your week free to rest, explore, or enjoy lodge amenities—including adventure rentals when available.

This lifestyle isn’t for everyone—but if you're adaptable, self-motivated, and excited about mountain living,
