Where the Forest Never Ends and the Adventures Just Begin.
Tucked deep in the heart of the Boise National Forest, SouthFork Lodge is your front-row seat to 2.5 million acres of untamed Idaho wilderness. Set along the wild South Fork of the Payette River, the lodge offers a rare blend of rustic charm, modern comfort, and true seclusion. Whether you're fly fishing at dawn, rafting by day, or stargazing by the fire at night, SouthFork is both basecamp and retreat.

With no cell service and no distractions, guests unplug to reconnect with what matters — nature, stillness, and adventure. Elk roam nearby, trails lead endlessly into pine-covered mountains, and every season brings a new reason to explore. From cozy cabins to riverside dining, SouthFork invites you to step off the grid and into Idaho’s wild heart. Here, the forest is vast, the silence is deep, and the escape is complete. Welcome to your wilderness home.

The Pit – Gear, Fuel & Fixes for the Trail Ahead

At SouthFork, we know adventure doesn’t wait—and neither do unexpected needs. That’s where The Pit comes in.

Equal parts gear shop, convenience store, and problem-solver’s depot, The Pit is our on-site hub for all things adventure. Tucked right on property, it’s your last stop before the trailhead and your first stop when something goes sideways. Forgot your rain layer? Lost a strap? Tent pole snapped or forgot the propane? We’ve got you covered.

We’re not trying to be everything to everyone—but we are 90 miles from the nearest outfitter, and we know how fast the weather (or a zipper) can turn. The Pit stocks essential outdoor gear, quick-fix supplies, camping basics, and even a few items to borrow in a pinch.

We also offer:

  • 91 octane, non-ethanol fuel

  • Bundled firewood

  • We can refill your propane or sell you a new tank

  • Ice and basic camp groceries

The Pit helps keep your trip focused on adventure—not delays. Let us help you keep your plans on track and your gear dialed in.

The Pit is open daily from 7am to 7pm. The Pit is also where you check out adventure services and adventure gear.

Hot Springs

We stayed last weekend now that the lodge is under new ownership. What an amazing experience!! The amount of work the new owners have already done is unbelievable. The area is gorgeous and the plans they have are super exciting. The lodge is definitely going to be one of the best destinations for adventure in Idaho.

The SouthFork Dispatch

Welcome to The SouthFork Dispatch—our dedicated place to share stories, updates, and the rhythms of life from deep in the Boise National Forest. At SouthFork Lodge, we believe connection happens when we slow down, listen closely, and lean into the place and people around us.

This dispatch isn’t just about lodge news—it’s about the lives we intersect with: the travelers, trailblazers, guides, and locals who shape this wild and wonderful corner of Idaho. It’s about honoring the land, sharing a fireside tale, and keeping the spirit of the forest alive in every season.

We know that choosing to do things a little differently—more intentionally, more personally—takes time. But we believe it’s worth it.

We invite you to follow along, stay connected, and be part of the SouthFork story. Subscribe and we’ll bring the mountains to your inbox, one issue at a time.
