Horseback Trail Rides

In Partnership with Whiskey Mountain Outfitters

SouthFork Lodge is proud to partner with Whiskey Mountain Outfitters, a family-owned and operated Idaho outfitter, to offer guided horseback trail rides through the stunning landscapes of the Boise National Forest. These rides are available by appointment only, and all guiding, planning, and outfitting is handled exclusively by the Whiskey Mountain team.

Whether you’re looking for a relaxed multi-hour ride through mountain meadows or a longer journey with a trailside lunch and panoramic views, each ride is fully customized to fit your comfort level and curiosity. These are small-group, personal experiences designed to slow things down and reconnect you with nature—one hoofbeat at a time.

What to Expect:

  • By-appointment only—book in advance to guarantee availability.

  • Breathtaking scenery of the Boise National Forest, seen from a timeless perspective.

  • Trail options range from peaceful meanders to half-day mountain adventures.

  • Perfect for couples, families, and photographers looking to experience the forest at a slower pace.

Whiskey Mountain Outfitters provides all the horses, gear, and guides—you provide the sense of wonder. Rides are available in spring, summer, and fall (sorry, horses take winters off!), and can even be combined with alpine or river fishing for a full day of backcountry exploration.

Want to Ride?

Let our team at SouthFork connect you with Whiskey Mountain Outfitters and help coordinate your trip. While we are not the outfitter or guide, we’re proud to help you plan your adventure from the lodge.

See the forest the way it’s always been seen—on horseback.
