Float the Fork: Tubing the Payette River

A Self-Guided 4.5-Mile River Adventure from SouthFork Lodge in the Boise National Forest

The SouthFork Lodge sits on the edge of one of the West’s most iconic waterways—the legendary Payette River. Carving through deep pine canyons and rugged Idaho wilderness, this river offers something for everyone. Looking to feel the rush of whitewater? Book a guided rafting trip through Payette River Rafting Company and experience Class II–IV rapids, canyon walls, and adrenaline-fueled drops.

Want something more laid-back? Our tubing adventures offer the perfect float for those who prefer river time at their own pace.

Tubing the Payette River from the SouthFork Lodge

For those looking to spend a few blissful hours drifting through forested canyon scenery, this self-guided tubing trip is the perfect choice. The 4.5-mile float begins right from the SouthFork Lodge and winds gently downstream through the heart of the Boise National Forest. You’ll pass shaded riverbanks, sunlit swimming spots, and have plenty of time to relax and soak in the scenery.

We use top-of-the-line tubes from AIRE, crafted from durable PVC raft material with full bottoms for comfort and stability. Double tubes are ideal for an adult and child or two smaller adults. This is a self-paced adventure—float, swim, or pull up on a beach for a riverside break. When you're done, we’ll pick you up and bring you back to the lodge.
